I am definitely going to stop putting time lines on my delivery.
Subversion installed on SuSe Linux 10.1. (I should have stuck with Windows) - Thanks Marnus for the help! What a pain.
I realized:
1) My Linux skills gave gone to s*it
2) SuSe is a terrible distribution (but the only one at my disposal)
3) Linux hasn't gotten any friendlier in the 5 years since I have last seriously used it.
4) I cant function without Apt
Now time to page through the Pragmatic Programmers Version Control with Subversion book.
Speak soon(ish)

Step 1: Version Control System Choice
Okay, so I am actually going to start (one month later than planned). Before finding a place to host the project, I am going to store the source locally.
First step for me (usually) is to create my project structure and check it into CVS. But since CVS seems to have outgrown it's usefulness (much like struts in the web MVC world), I am going to use Subversion (which i have used on a project recently - but as a client).
I am going to do most of my development on Windows (for various reasons). Installing Subversion onto a windows server is my next activity. I hope subversion behaves better on Windows than CVS does.
BTW: I am using the book: "Java Power Tools" from O'Reilly to evaluate all the tools for building my project. This one seems a no-brainer (famous last words).
I will install in the next day or so and report back.
